Time Out, the leading global media and entertainment brand that inspires and enables people to make the most of the city, is launching Movies on the River in partnership with City Cruises. London’s first ever floating cinema will sail the Thames five nights a week throughout summer. The season kicks off with the fitting Spielberg classic Jaws on June 15.

Time Out’s Movies on the River is the latest exciting addition to the capital’s thriving pop-up cinema scene and a unique chance for locals and visitors to the city to watch movies on the top deck of a boat as it cruises along the River Thames.

Movies on the River is part of Time Out’s growing Live Events programme in cities around the world. This new breed of events connects tens of thousands of people with unforgettable moments such as ‘Battle of the Burger’ in Chicago and New York or ‘Silent Discos’ in London’s Natural History Museum and The Shard. With the launch of the first cinema to sail the Thames, Time Out continues its diversification into experiential in 2017 and its unique offering for its experience-hungry audience.

Guests will enjoy a sunset cruise from the Tower of London east towards Greenwich before settling down for a movie on the big screen on the open-air deck of the sleek cruise boat City Alpha as the sun goes down. The on-board bar will serve a selection of snacks and drinks to make this a night to remember.

Gliding through the city, film lovers will get to watch London-themed favourites including ‘Mary Poppins’ and ‘Notting Hill’, watery classics including ‘Finding Nemo’ and ‘The Little Mermaid’ (and, of course, ‘Jaws’!) and romantic all-time favourites old and new, including ‘When Harry Met Sally’ and ‘La La Land’ – all based on Time Out’s curation.

Dave Calhoun, Global Film Editor for Time Out, comments: “Time Out doesn’t just write about city experiences, we also curate and create them. Londoners love to watch movies in the parks, on roofs, in squares – but never before did they get to watch a movie on a huge open-air screen while sailing up the River Thames past the city’s most famous sights.

Time Out is all about helping people to discover, book and share the very best of a city so we’re thrilled that we are, together with our partner City Cruises, the first ever to deliver such a unique experience for both locals and visitors to the city.”

Prices start from £29.00 including sunset cruise and open-air screening and tickets can be booked via Time Out’s website
