Auditions For Mvaa Miscast says
Ever dreamed of playing Ariel, but you end up cast as Ursula? Did you see yourself as Elle Woods but got cast as a Frat boy?

Miscast Cabaret is your chance to sing the song you'll never get cast to sing. Whether you're too old, the wrong "type", or the wrong gender, we want you to showcase your talent and have you play the part you've dreamed of playing.

For audition time or more information email:

Please come prepared to sing your Miscast song. Duets, trios and group numbers are welcome, but all members of the group must attend the audition together.

You will be responsible for providing sheet music for the accompianst. NO ACAPELLA. Performances will be done to live music.

Performance Dates are November 11th and 12th at 8pm at The Art Place, 3330 Sandy Springs Road, Marietta GA.

There will be a tech week from November 7-10. You will be required to attend technical rehearsals, unless arrangements are made in advance.

Miscast works best when it is obvious why the song is miscast without having to know the show it is from. There must be some
indication in the lyrics to help the audience understand why the person is Miscast. In some situations this can be avoided if a show or song are well known enough. But we want to make
sure the audience can get the joke. So use your judgement on this. Songs should be performed with absolute earnestness. Do not “comment” on the fact that you are miscast in the role by
trying to be funny or ridiculous. Imagine that in some misguided universe, you have been cast in this role, its opening night and you have to do the very best you can. Costumes and props are
allowed but please use them sparingly. Simple pieces are best.

We are totally open to pieces that are not comedic. If you have a serious song from a musical that you’d like to perform, we are
all for it. You need to know and love this song, because you will need to do work on it on your own.
