Come out for a great night of live music at Charis Books, Atlanta's feminist bookstore! with two cutting edge women singer-song writers-- DK&TheJoyMachine and Marca Cassity! DK& THE JOY MACHINE DK&theJoyMachine's new album, SHY ONE, out March 5th, has been described as "...very intense, colorful and diverse ... a novel of sorts. Dark, light, humorous & humble. " Her "quirky and smart" songs celebrate all the crucial things in life: unrequited love, falling in love with feral cats, and treating yourself with kindness. Known for her sultry, expressive voice, well crafted songs, and genre-blending, innovative work on mountain dulcimer---plucking, strumming, bowing and “rocking out” on this trad instrument, “DK”'s music is at turns evocative, moving and playful and fun. Her first studio recording, the EP, "Love Harder," released in January 25th, 2013, was described by VENTS magazine as "an album with heart, ...beauty, and passion. In every chord, note, or string you can feel poetry, sincerity, greatness... a record to closely pay attention to and be delighted by." www.dkandtheJoymachine.com https://www.facebook.com/dkANDtheJoyMachine https://www.reverbnation.com/dknthejoymachine MARCA CASSITY Bay Area resident Marca Cassity delivers inspired folk rock spirit songs. Called a “soulful songstress,” by the L.A. Weekly, Marca was raised in rural Oklahoma. The product of her Osage Indian ancestry and blue-collar sweat, hard work is no mystery to Marca, and it shows in her art and her expression. In April 2014, Marca released "Songs from the Well," an 11-song, tribally-funded album produced by Julie Wolf, who has collaborated with such musical acts as Indigo Girls and Ani DiFranco. The album speaks to overcoming hardship through resilience, connection to nature, humor, love, spirituality, and heritage. On stage, Marca embraces her audiences with music, wit, ease and wisdom. http://www.marcacassity.com/ Tickets: suggested donation $10 All Ages Full Details: http://www.reverbnation.com/show/15327334
