Ayurveda is a 5,000-year-old system of natural healing rooted in the ancient Vedic culture of India. Literally meaning “the science of life” (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge), Ayurveda is the sister science to yoga. Together yoga and Ayurveda work toward the goal of helping a person achieve health, happiness, and ultimately liberation. According to Ayurveda and yoga, health can only be achieved by the balanced and dynamic integration of body, mind and spirit with the changing cycles of nature. In this workshop we will discuss the Ayurvedic secrets to health and longevity by providing the basic guidelines for living in harmony with nature. Workshop Topics Include: •History of Ayurveda and its Vedic origin •Relationship between Yoga and Ayurveda •The Five Great Elements - ether, air, fire, water, and earth •Our interconnection with nature, and the importance of living in harmony with the changing cycles of nature •Doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) - Discover your unique body type and unveil your genetic blueprint to health and longevity •Basic diet guidelines for vata, pitta, kapha and current season Cost: $50 Required Reading: Prakriti by Dr. Robert E. Svoboda This workshop is open to the public. Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for yoga practice.
