Landmark's Midtown Art Cinema says
Cerro Torre, in Patagonia, Argentina, is and the greatest alpine challenge. Roccia (Vittorio Mezzogiorno) is the greatest, most experienced mountain climber in the world, conqueror of the world’s highest mountains. Martin (Stefan Glowacz), on the other hand, is the world’s top-rated sports climber and the most outstanding representative of a new generation of mountain climbers. When the death of a mutual friend and a love rivalry (Mathilda May) divides them, it results in a bitter climbing duel. Inspired by the battle of the two climbers, journalist Ivan (Donald Sutherland) takes bets on who will be first to reach the summit and brings TV cameras in to cover the sensational event. Like two soulless remote-controlled machines, the two adversaries climb in blind rage, throwing their lives in the balance. With the breathtaking stunts and scenery, this is a must-see climbing movie! Directed by Werner Herzog.
