Curators Statement
It’s kind of a joke how many times people have said painting was “dead” throughout history. But each time it somehow resurrects itself. Painting remains one of the more direct means to blend the hand and the mind to create an image/object/body.
In a world overcast with screens and images, painting remains; the more important question is how is painting dealt with?
PAINTING suggests that the medium is not “dead,” but changed. Painting’s success lies in these transformative moments, not newness or originality.
