A New England favorite, the Harpoon Brewery brews spectacular IPAs, Hefeweizens and stouts right in South Boston. Belly up to the long table in the beer hall to enjoy some freshly brewed beers or plunk down $5 for a tour and a tasting.

A visit to Harpoon Brewery is one of my favorite Boston activities. The brewery is right along the water so you can expect beautiful views year-round. Book the (very affordable) tickets well in advance if you are interested in going on the tour. The tour itself is a pretty standard overview of how beer is made, but the tour guides are personable and the crowd is always fun. The tour ends in a tap room where you can taste as many different brews as you can chug in the short chunk of time allotted. Even if you don't catch the tour, the brewery has a great beer hall with an extensive selection of Harpoon brews and delicious pretzels and brats. For the summer, I'm partial to UFO White, but definitely take the bartenders' and brewmasters' recommendations to heart and experiment with their latest concoctions.
