The Patriots are playing the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday, December 17, at 1pm EST, and it marks Taylor Swift’s likely return to Gillette.
Like our beloved Patriots, the Kansas City Chiefs are a storied NFL franchise with multiple Super Bowl wins (we have a few more). However, with Tom Brady sadly retired, and divorced from Giselle Bündchen, the new power couple in the NFL is singer Taylor Swift and the Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
With the Pats unfortunately out of the postseason, tuning in for a sighting of the superstar singer is as good a reason as any to watch the game. And, while she’s rooting for the wrong team, her game day fashion has been providing major inspiration for sports lovers.
Will Taylor Swift be at Gillette for the Patriots game against the Chiefs?
Signs point to yes. The singer is taking the holidays off from her record breaking tour – that we named best event of 2023 – and has been in the stands for many of her boyfriend’s games.
Coach Bill Belichick was asked about Swift potentially returning to Gillette, and gave a typical Belichick answer.
"I’m really focused on trying to get our team ready to play Kansas City," he said on WEEI’s "The Greg Hill Show."
The six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach is a fan however, and was in the audience for Swift’s rain drenched performance earlier this year, saying, "That was pretty impressive. She’s tough, man. Just stood out there and played right through it."
Bars and restaurants with Taylor Swift watch parties
If you’re not lucky enough to have tickets to Gillette (a repeat of the Eras tour for many of us), great news. There are bars and restaurants around town who will be showing the game on the big screen, and some are even offering fun specials to celebrate the duo's romance.
Sam Adams Downtown Boston Taproom
Starting at 12:30pm game day, Samuel Adams is hosting a watch-party (Sam’s Version) at their taproom for the matchup this weekend, complete with friendship bracelets, friendship bracelet-making kits, bites and a limited-edition brew to celebrate Taylor’s return to New England: Cozy Cardigan.
The beer is spiced ale featuring robust flavors of rich cacao nibs and bejeweled blood oranges. ‘Tis the damn season!
Also, if and when the Pats score reads Swift’s lucky number 13 on-the-dot, drinkers will be able to scan a QR code and submit their information for the chance to win prizes.
Kings Dining and Entertainment
All of the Massachusetts locations of the bar and restaurant with plenty of big screens, games and bowling, will be offering the Red, Taylor’s Version, Sangria throughout the weekend! The sangria is made with red wine, gin, apricot and raspberry Liquor, orange Juice and a citrus medley. The drink is and is available by the glass, or as a fun tower to share with your fellow Swifties.
You’ll also find game-day favorites like: pizzas, burgers, wings, nachos and giant mugs for the wide variety of draft beers. Bored of the game? King’s offers bowling; billiards; air hockey; shuffleboard; and more.
A&B Kitchen - Bar
Over by the Garden, catch the game in this big, sunny spot that’s offering two Taylor Swift inspired special cocktails this Sunday only. There’s the Red Zone Romance, a blend of house pear brandy, red wine, pears, cinnamon, oranges, and the Enchanted to Meet You, with gin, Luxardo, Crème de Violette and lemon.
Karma Asian Fusion
If you’re spending the weekend in the ‘burbs, Karma Asian Fusion in Burlington will be showing the big game and serving a Swift inspired drink special. Take a break from that last minute holiday shopping and sip a Lavender Have, a sparkling wine cocktail featuring a colorful lavender-infused simple syrup, citrus vodka, and lemon flavors. The addition of an egg white gives the cocktail that frothy “haze” on top, with edible glitter shimmering throughout. The special is only available this Sunday, and pairs perfectly with the restaurant’s fusion sushi.
Where to go to watch the Patriots play the Chiefs on Sunday
If you’re more interested in just watching the game, here are some of our favorite spots around town showing the game on the big screen with lots of game day and holiday specials to make the afternoon more fun.
Banners Kitchen and Tap
The bar and restaurant next to the Garden has the biggest screen in town and will be serving brunch during the Pats game. While they’re not offering anything Swiftie specific, Banners does offer the Son of a Nutcracker, a special holiday martini. Made with Screwball Whiskey, Bailey’s, fresh espresso, and simple syrup, The drink is served up in a martini glass with tree stenciled whipped cream and three espresso ornaments (beans)!
Bleacher Bar
Why go to Gillette when you can watch the game from Fenway’s Bleacher Bar? Tucked under the Green Monster, this bar shows all the games and has great bar bites and drinks.
Game On
This Lansdowne St. location is one of the nicest sports bars around with two floors, 30 plus TVs, two full bars and a menu of pub favorites like nachos, wings and pizza.
Loco South Boston
The Southie fave will be showing the game and will offer their game day menu in the Loco Lounge, featuring Smash Burger Sliders, Buffalo Mac n Cheese, and Loco Chicken Tenders (chicken tenders tossed in the famous Loco chip seasoning). There’s also a DJ keeping the vibe on party mode.
WynnBet Sports Book at Encore Boston Harbor
With the Pats out of the playoffs, one way to make the game (all the games) more interesting is hitting the sports book. WynnBET impressively features more than 60 televisions, a 10-foot high and 123-foot-long immersive video wall, a full-service bar, sports betting windows, and cuisine from Shake Shack and Frank & Nick’s.
