The Michelin Guide announced its 2026 Key selection on September 18, awarding the ultimate recognition for global hospitality. Analogous to Michelin Stars for restaurants, Michelin Keys distinguish properties delivering exceptional service, distinct character, architectural brilliance, outstanding value and a meaningful contribution to their surroundings. Across the United States, 359 properties earned recognition—spanning 267 one key, 78 two key and 44 three key designations.
While no U.S. hotels joined the elite three key tier this year, Boston proved its stature as a world-class travel destination with seven total recognized properties. Three Boston properties maintained their coveted two key distinction, signifying "an exceptional stay". Notably, these three are the only hotels in all of Massachusetts to earn two keys. These two key hotels are Raffles Boston, bringing landmark Asian hospitality and modern skyscraper elegance to the historic Back Bay; The Langham Boston, a refined blend of timeless British heritage and contemporary luxury housed in the former Federal Reserve Bank and The Newbury Boston, combining grand historic architecture with tailored luxury.
Four Boston properties secured one key status, representing "a very special stay." Returning favorites The Whitney Hotel Boston, Four Seasons Hotel Boston and Four Seasons Hotel One Dalton Street, Boston all successfully maintained their on ekey ratings from last year. Joining this illustrious list is XV Beacon, which earned a Michelin Key for the very first time. Michelin calls it an "ultra-discrete pre-Revolutionary mansion" with elegant guest rooms and exceptional service.
