In what would be a first for Africa, Big Concerts on Friday made a big hint (we, alongside many South African BTS fans, hope) that BTS may be touring South Africa, which we are certain would include Cape Town.
While their social media posts have been cryptic, asking fans, "Should BTS light up South Africa with a live show?", the obvious answer indicated that it is a big YES from locals, with South African celebrities such as comedian Nina Hastie commenting, "If you’re doing this just to tease us, please don’t. I might not survive the heartache".

And the discussion didn't stop there as Big Concerts took to Cape Town-based radio station Kfm 94.5 to pose the same question, with listeners chiming in to share that they would do nearly anything to see BTS in South Africa.

Who are BTS?
BTS were the first K-pop group to 'pave the way' (fellow ARMYs will understand what we mean by this), taking Korean pop music to the international stage and reaching fans far and wide.
Their rise to stardom opened doors for other K-pop groups to reach international fans, and arguably further ignited the Hallyu wave, the global popularity and spread of South Korean culture, including K-pop, K-dramas, fashion, and cuisine.
BTS are a multi-award-winning music group composed of seven members: RM (Kim Nam-joon), Suga (Yoongi), Jin, J-hope (Jung Hoseok), V (Kim Taehyung), and Jung Kook.
BTS music
Some of their most viral songs include 'Dynamite', which has garnered over two-billion views on YouTube, 'Boy With Luv' feat American singer and songwriter Halsey, and more (the list of excellent music they have produced is endless, am I an ARMY? Perhaps).
Their music has been a shining light for the ARMY, the official title of the fandom, which stands for Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth.
From young to old, the fandom has showcased an undeniable dedication to BTS, as has BTS to its fandom, performing jaw-dropping and captivating concerts across the globe, connecting with their fans on a personal level.
After completing their individual military service, which is mandatory for most South Korean males and can last up to 21 months, the world-renowned group is now preparing for the release of their new album.
Since their return to daily life, social media has been flooded with theories about concerts worldwide in 2026.
In a weverse live, a South Korean fan engagement platform, BTS announced that they plan to release their anticipated new album in July 2026.
With Big Concerts posing this question on social media and an outpouring of fans begging for BTS to tour South Africa, will we be the first African country that BTS tours in?
We impatiently await the announcement...
