Chefs Warehouse at Beau Constantia has just launched its new winter lunch menu... exactly the remedy you'll need as days get colder in Cape Town.

The stunning Chefs Warehouse at Beau Constantia has launched a new winter lunch menu, created by their inventive chef, Ivor Jones.
Perched on Constantia Nek, Chefs Warehouse at Beau Constantia is known for its experimental offering thanks to Jones' almost encyclopaedic understanding of flavour profiles and willingness to push the boundaries of what it means to be a chef.
His brilliance shines through in this new menu. While some of the dishes may not scream 'conventional winter food', what these dishes offer is a chance to step away from the norm and experience a chef who is very much at the top of his game.
The four-course lunch menu is rooted in Thai flavours, with popcorn central to some of the dishes - an interesting twist and one which evokes that warm feeling of watching movies at home with a big bowl of popcorn while the rain pelts down.
Below, I bring you my highlights from the menu.
Although beautifully presented, I must admit that I wasn't sure about the popcorn cereal milk at first. 'Out there' idea, brilliantly executed. The subtle hint of popcorn paired perfectly with the tuna, creating what I can only so eloquently describe as a 'fun' taste. It wasn't something I had ever tasted before and the inventive nature of Jones was very much present on the plate. Add to that the sweetness of the red apple and crunch of the tuile, and you have the perfect little firecracker of a dish to open proceedings.
Just look at how pretty that plate is! Look at the technique on display! Now if only you could taste it... This dish is fresh yet comforting, perfect for a winter lunch outing. The tartare is complemented by a berbere emulsion, tomato dashi, and some fancily sliced avocado - all working in unison to create mini bites which give your taste buds a lot more than they bargained for. A honey-steamed bun is included for mopping up. It's a well-rounded dish that just makes sense, especially in the context of the full winter menu.
Simple in its creation, incredible in its taste. "It's just chicken, Andrew." No. This is certainly not 'just chicken'. It's what chicken can be, yet so few are actually able to create. Crispy skin, juicy meat, care on a plate. Paired with sticky rice and a coconut naam pla to bring that umami flair, this dish is chicken elevated to private school following a holiday in Thailand. Chicken has no right to be this good. I was left wanting more and more, and I could literally see myself just sitting there all day eating this. It's magnificent.
While the other dessert option on the menu speaks more to winter comfort food, this wonderful creation really hit home for me. Summer flavours, yes, but totally perfect for winter - it brings about a longing for the warmer months. The silky smooth elements of the mousse, Amaretto foam, and ice cream are complemented by the crunch of the crumb to take you straight to texture town. It's fresh, flavourful, and the perfect end to a lunch that was as well-rounded as my belly felt after the feast.
Chefs Warehouse at Beau Constantia's winter lunch menu is available for lunch sittings on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays until the end of September 2026. The four-course menu is priced at R895 per person, with an optional wine pairing available for R700 per person.
Time Out Tip: Take someone who likes to share and each order a different dish from each course. That way you will be able to sample the entire winter lunch menu. Bingo! See the full menu below.
