The restoration of the Cascais promenade will proceed with an investment of over €16 million, following the approval of the project last Tuesday, 24 February. The work covers the seafront between Cascais and Azarujinha and is considered pivotal for the safety and quality of life in the area. The operation will include structural reinforcement, widening of the most vulnerable sections, new accessibility features, integrated lighting, and CCTV within the new infrastructure.

Although the initial responsibility lay with the Portuguese Environment Agency, the Cascais Municipal Council decided to move forward after four years of project development, a period during which it was necessary to coordinate with various entities and carry out successive technical adjustments. The work is expected to take around 900 days, approximately two and a half years, to complete.

This intervention follows the upgrade approved in 2024 for the section between Praia da Conceição and Praia da Poça, which involved an investment of €22 million with the same goal of enhancing residents’ safety.
