Brisket is one of the most iconic and popular cuts in American barbecue, made from the cow’s breast and cooked slowly to ensure it becomes tender, juicy and full of flavour. If those words already have your mouth watering, then your destination this Saturday, 14 March, is Taberna da Praça, which is hosting a pop-up titled Brisket Day in partnership with Kau Barbecue – the project by Rui Matias that, at the end of December, materialised into a pastrami restaurant on Avenida Duque de Ávila, in Lisbon, and will soon have a permanent home in Malveira to sell all of its projects.

The initiative takes place in the central square of the Cidadela de Cascais, with free entry and a programme that brings together food, live music and beer.

For the return of Brisket Day – Pop Up by Kau to the Cascais fortress, three options are planned. There is The Brisket (€18), served in its most classic form, with meat slowly smoked over wood; the Chopped Brisket Sandwich (€16), presented in brioche bread with pickles; and Birria Brisket Tacos (€16), a Tex-Mex inspired approach that combines the intense flavour of brisket with the tradition of tacos.

Av. Dom Carlos I, 246 (Cascais). 14 Mar (Sat). Free entry.
