Bags ready, suits chosen, and boards packed. Since the yellow alert issued earlier this week, surfers have been ready to dive into Carcavelos Beach for the Capítulo Perfeito powered by Billabong. The event has finally been scheduled for Sunday, February 18th, when conditions will be ideal for the perfect waves.
To not miss a moment of the action, you have to arrive early: the competition will have the first official call at 07:00 – and thus secure the best spots on the beach (who knows if you might even get some wet greetings from the surfers as they come out of the water!)
In the race for the grand prize are 16 of the best tube riders from the country and the world, some with direct entry and others chosen by the public in the previous phase. Surfing will be Anthony Walsh, Aritz Aranburu, Balaram Stack, Bruno Santos, Dylan Graves, Francisca Veselko, João Maria Mendonça, Michael February, Nathan Florence, Nic von Rupp, Pedro Boonman, Rob Machado, Salvador Vala, Tiago Pires, Tiago Stock, and William Alliotti. They are joined by six surfers from the New Generation – Jaime Veselko, Martim Fortes, Matias Canhoto, Salvador Catarino, Salvador Vala, and Simão Prazeres – who compete separately in the New Generation Special Heat, for the award of the best under-18 athlete of the 10th edition of the Capítulo Perfeito powered by Billabong.
The surfers – between warm-ups, perfect barrels, and perfect scores – won't be the only ones busy throughout the day. During the breaks, there's guaranteed entertainment from the event's partner brands for the audience. You can start by taking a few swings on Corona's iconic swing, located at the Sponsors Green Point. Throughout the day, participate in the Go Chill challenge, which tests your balance on a mechanical surfboard and take home Go Chill glasses. If you surprise everyone and are one of the top three winners, you'll win a pack of brand products. To end the day on a high note, after the awards ceremony, the Sunset Party powered by Corona lasts until midnight.
Sunday is thus reserved for the Perfect Chapter Powered by Billabong, but for those who can't experience it 100% at Carcavelos Beach, there's a solution.
