The Onyria Quinta da Marinha Hotel is gearing up for a major transformation that will mark a new chapter in the group’s story. After 25 years of welcoming guests, the hotel will close at the end of November to begin a full refurbishment – reopening in the first quarter of 2026 under the Kimpton flag, a luxury lifestyle brand from the IHG group, which also owns names like InterContinental and Six Senses.
Before the renovation begins, the hotel’s furniture is being put up for sale on Second Serve, a digital platform launched in April this year dedicated to reselling second-hand hospitality furniture and equipment. The sale is already live, with deliveries scheduled for when the hotel closes at the end of November.
For João Pinto Coelho, Chief Commercial Officer at Grupo Onyria, this transition is both symbolic and practical. “Joining the Kimpton brand marks a new chapter for us. It makes perfect sense that this change should also come with a sustainable gesture”, he says.
The sale will take place in two phases. In the first, Second Serve is offering furniture from the hotel’s 200 rooms. Later, pieces from the common areas – including restaurants, leisure zones and event spaces – will also become available. In addition to the online platform, some of the items will be showcased at the Second Serve showroom in Mafra, which can be visited by appointment over the coming weeks.
