Good news over in Parede. Liberty: food, coffee & wine has reached 57th place in the prestigious "Europe's 100 Best Coffee Shops 2026" ranking. Alongside this distinction, it was also awarded a Solete by the Repsol Guide.

Opened in August 2023 right by the coastal road, the brunch-focused spot stands out for its direct view over Parede Beach. The project belongs to three Russian partners — the couple Anna Aleshkovskaia and Yuriy Gushchin, and their friend Nikita Pirogov —, who found refuge in Portugal from the political pressure in their home country. Liberty in Parede is the younger sibling of the highly successful café and bookshop of the same name, which opened in Santos, Lisbon, at the end of 2022.

The menu sets itself apart by combining breakfast and lunch classics with specialties rooted in Russian cuisine. Highlights include buckwheat porridge with red caviar and a poached egg, beef or salmon Benedicts, and traditional syrniki — cottage cheese pancakes served as a dessert.

In addition to Liberty, this international coffee shop list includes other Portuguese favourites: 7g Roaster, in Vila Nova de Gaia, clinched 13th place; while Orioli Coffee & Lab., The Folks, Senzi, and MAS Specialty Coffee & Brunch, all in Lisbon, ranked 26th, 34th, 53rd, and 76th, respectively.
