Cascais’ seafront will once again be transformed into a large open-air space dedicated to physical exercise and socialising on April 12, when the municipality joins Oeiras and Lisbon to celebrate another edition of World Physical Activity Day. The initiative runs from 9.30am to 1pm and includes a free programme open to everyone.

In Cascais, the Avenida Marginal will be one of the main meeting points for anyone looking to spend an active Sunday morning. As in neighbouring municipalities, traffic will be suspended between 8.30am and 2pm along an extensive route linking São Pedro do Estoril to Alcântara, allowing pedestrians and cyclists to safely occupy the road without cars. The aim is to encourage people to leave the house, exercise and enjoy the scenery in an environment designed for all ages.

Throughout the morning, there will be trial classes in different disciplines, sports demonstrations, guided walks and stage-based sessions. Health screenings and awareness activities led by clubs, associations and organisations connected to sport and wellbeing are also planned. In Cascais, these activities will be spread along the seafront, reinforcing the municipality’s commitment to initiatives that promote active lifestyles and the use of public space.

Participation is free and does not require prior registration. Just turn up and take the opportunity to move your body in a seaside setting.

Avenida Marginal. 12 Apr (Sun), 10am–1pm. Free entry.
