Cascais is getting a new festival and its debut is already set for September 19, on Carcavelos Beach. Called Cascais Fest, it is an initiative by the municipality that aims to bring together culture, citizenship and participation around major causes. The first edition has "For Peace" as its theme and takes place in the year Cascais is European Capital of Democracy.

The headliner and ambassador for this inaugural edition is Padre Guilherme, known internationally as the “DJ priest”, one of the most recognisable Portuguese figures in today’s electronic music scene. Joining him on the sand in Carcavelos are HMB, Gospel Collective and DJ Disi.

Entry is free, with a special area reserved for Viver Cascais cardholders. According to the organisation, the aim is to establish Cascais Fest as a reference event in the municipality and turn Carcavelos Beach into “a place of meeting, sharing and celebration of a value that unites everyone: peace”.

Carcavelos Beach. 19 September, 5pm-midnight. Free.
