If you're a horse lover or simply curious to discover more about the equine world, Casa da Cal is the place to visit. This project brings together endangered horse breeds, breathtaking photographs, and a luxurious natural setting.
Through a series of photographs by photographer Minh Dan Vu, you’ll get to know seven endangered breeds. One of the stars of the exhibition is the Sorraia horse, one of the rarest breeds in the world, and a living presence at Quinta do Pisão itself. It’s precisely here, in the heart of nature, that the visitor centre – where it all happens – is located: the perfect setting where Sorraias live freely, help regenerate the ecosystem, and naturally prevent wildfires.
Presented by CadenzaLux in collaboration with The Equine Legacy Project, this exhibition is part of a global initiative combining photography, conservation, and storytelling. In addition to the images, there’s a documentary series and a coffee table book that you can take home. But hurry – copies are flying off the shelves, so be sure to grab yours while you can.
And until the end of May, there are no excuses: visit this living piece of history, discover how horses continue to shape landscapes, and who knows, you might even come face-to-face with a Sorraia as you stroll along the trails of Quinta do Pisão. Admission is free and open to all.
