There's a new Santini in Cascais – and it has cocktails and ice-cream sangrias

It's a double feature: a new space overlooking the sea, in the Cidadela, and new recipes with ice creams that you can drink.

On the last weekend of June, the kiosk in front of the Cidadela Fortress in Cascais got a brand new tenant. The red and white striped flag gives it away: it’s Santini. But not just any Santini. With a prime sea view and a spacious terrace, Santini Corner is serving up mojitos, margaritas, daiquiris, pisco sours, caipirinhas and other classic cocktails – all reimagined with the brand’s iconic ice creams.

The drinks menu – which also features sangrias with ice cream (€22/litre) – was curated by mixology and bartending expert Miguel Tojal, from the company Às de Copos, who’s no stranger to the Santini world. "He’s been creating cocktails with our products at events for years, so he already knew how our ice cream behaves in drinks", Marta Botton, Santini’s managing director, told Time Out Cascais.

In addition to the cocktails (€12.50) – and, of course, the classic cones and cups of ice cream, available in ten flavours (€4.10–€7.25) – Santini Corner also pours wines by the glass or bottle from Herdade de São Miguel (€5–€21), and serves up café-style drinks like Mazagran, Affogato and milkshakes (€5.80–€6.10), plus beers (€2.20–€4.50) and even a mocktail (€8). For nibbles, you’ll find croquettes (€1.50 each) and olives (€2) – because sometimes, even all that ice cream needs a savoury sidekick.
