European Heritage Days return to the Cascais municipality from 18 to 27 September 2026, under the theme "Revive, resist, reinvent". The programme is free and spread across several cultural venues in the region, including Museu da Vila, Museu do Mar Rei D. Carlos, Farol Museu de Santa Marta, Museu Condes de Castro Guimarães and Casal Saloio de Outeiro de Polima. Activities include guided and dramatised tours, talks, workshops, theatre performances and live music.
Programme highlights
Museu da Vila: free visit Ó Vezinha, vem brincar from 18 to 27 September, and Marcas do Passado routes on 19, 23 and 26 September.
Farol Museu de Santa Marta: night-time climb to the tower on 19 September at 9pm, Gentes do Cabo talk on 26 September, and PHAROL 54 presentation on 27 September.
Museu do Mar Rei D. Carlos: visits to Cascais’ historic tide gauge on 26 September and guided visits to the museum’s reserves on 27 September.
Museu Condes de Castro Guimarães: dramatised tours about the counts’ summer stays on 26 September and a talk on artist Jorge Rey Colaço on 27 September.
Capela de São Sebastião, Parque Marechal Carmona: Duo Senza Misura concert on 26 September at 8pm.
Casal Saloio de Outeiro de Polima: Viva a Festa Saloia! event, with traditional demonstrations and workshops on 26 and 27 September.
