Quick, friendly, no-nonsense service with a smile—that's Uptown Bikes. Since 2004, this community-oriented bike shop has been serving the North Side–offering bikes for sale (from brands like Raleigh, KHS, Marin, Surly, and Torker), accessories (helmets and other gear) as well as repair services geared toward the urban commuter. Uptown Bikes also offers repair workshops ($25), so riders can DIY their own repairs on-the-go, even when they aren't near the shop.

Once you experience Uptown Bikes, you'll never want to go any where else. Prices are fair, staff is helpful, and the shop is unique and interesting...fun to stop in just to take a look around. You can check out new bikes in all styles and sizes, but their mechanics are incredible and can fix almost any problem you're having with the bike you already own. If you are a DIY person, they can set you up with the right parts, tools, and advice to get you going. There are only a handful of truly authentic bike shops in Chicago. Uptown Bikes is by far the best on the north side.
Uptown Bikes is remarkable for its incredibly knowledgeable and personable staff. They truly care about their customers and their bikes, and will tailor their recommendations to your individual needs. I purchased my bike here, and would never dream of going anywhere else for service. The store also makes an exemplary commitment to the residents and institutions of the Uptown community.
Uptown Bikes is a class act. They know their stuff and they always go out of their way to make sure you know what you're buying, whether it's a tire repair or a whole new set of wheels. Fair prices and an emphasis on customer service makes Uptown Bikes my go-to bike shop.
