1 Way At The Go Factory says
This month at the 1Way: Oblique Orchestra 9pm, Trepanning Trio 10pm.

Trepanning Trio is an acoustic instrumental ensemble which makes oddly beautiful music using classical, traditional and handmade instruments (i.e., viola da gamba, guzheng, pan lids screwed onto sticks and played with violin bows, etc). Contrary to its name, Trepanning Trio performs with a rotating lineup of six to fourteen musicians. They have shared the stage with members of the Cleveland Orchestra and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, MorrisonDance, and performed with free improvisation luminaries like Eugene Chadbourne, Tatsuya Nakatani, Michel Doneda, Mars Williams and Paal Nilssen-Love.

The band’s name derives from the surgical procedure in which a hole is drilled into the human skull. Cave paintings suggest that people once trepanned the skulls of the living in order to let evil spirits escape, thereby curing seizures, migraines, and mental disorders.

Oblique Orchestra: Dan Wenninger -saxophone, Christopher Vance -bass, Anthony Taddeo -drums.

This takes place at the Go Factory. 1935 W. 96th off of Madison. 3rd floor. Park in the large fenced in parking lot and use the door closest to the street. Donations are graciously accepted ($5 suggested). Doors open at 8:30pm. Music starts at 9pm.
