Tri-C Presents MorrisonDance in AREA MT: Moving Perceptions

An evening of site-specific dance created by MorrisonDance and performed with TriC and community students, Area MT: Moving Perceptions will explore the nature of visual perception through moving bodies inspired by the exhibits and the architecture of MOCA.

Responding to Jessica Eaton's bewildering photography, Kjartansson's installation, MOCA’s “Escher-like” stairwell and a freight elevator, the performers will become moving manifestations of the spaces surrounding them.

Artistic Director, Sarah Morrison, also a former behavioral researcher in visual perception, will host Dr. Alice Cronin-Golomb from Boston University to open this unique evening of visual and moving art with a short presentation on “how we perceive” from the perspective of a behavioral neuroscientist.

Audiences will then follow their own paths to move into separate gallery spaces to experience a night of “choreovisations” that play with the relationships between our eyes, our minds, our bodies, and our environment.

Conceived and Directed by Sarah Morrison
Contributing MorrisonDance creators: Fatima Abuzahrieh, Heather Baur, Jenni Hankey, Taliesin Haugh, Hope Schultz, and Liubomyr Shyndak
Additional performers will include students from TriC and the community
