Bellwether says
Virginia Overton transforms salvaged architectural materials such as concrete, glass, and wood into elegiac forms that bring sculpture into an active relationship to the viewer and the shared architectural surroundings. Working within and against the tradition of post minimalism, Overton claims a most interesting platform among public sculptors working today.

Virginia Overton was born in Tennessee and lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Recent solo exhibitions include: White Cube, London; MOCA North Miami, Florida; Storm King Art Center, Mountainville, New York; Westfälischer Kunstverein, Münster; Kunsthalle Bern, Switzerland; Mitchell-Innes and Nash, New York; The Kitchen, New York; and The Power Station, Dallas. She has been included in exhibitions at MoMA PS1; Sculpture Center; White Columns, New York; White Flag Projects and Contemporary Museum of Art, St. Louis; and Disjecta, Portland.
