Crows and Bows will perform in The Callaloo Cafe and Bar, this Sunday, April 12th at 4pm. The quartet features the oboe, bassoon, violin, and viola, bringing new textures and harmonies to familiar pieces. Andria Hoy and Ian Hoy will perform on the oboe and bassoon (the first double reeds to play at M4M). Mary Beth Ions will cover the violin with brio, as those who heard last season’s Amethyst Quartet will testify, and Alexandra Vago will complete the group on viola. Although Crows and Bows is a new ensemble, the players have crafted their techniques together for several years now in wide variety of musical settings.

Come early, at 3:30pm, to the Crows and Bows concert on Sunday afternoon, and learn how the musicians set up, and what it takes to lay the ground for a good performance.
Kid or grandmamma, you’ll find plenty on the quartet’s playlist to entice you to stay and listen: a Brandenburg concerto, Brahms’ Hungarian Dance, Strauss’ Blue Danube waltz, Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sheherazade, Tchaikovsky’s Dance of the Little Swans, Simple Gifts, Over the Rainbow, Embraceable You, more Bach, The Shire, and Harry’s Wondrous World as a finale. And much, much more.
As background to this musical kaleidoscope, we’ll have the current Waterloo Arts gallery show: “I Am,” art created by members of the trans* community.

Audience members can find a cup of tea or a glass of wine in the adjoining Callaloo Café; stay after to enjoy some West Indian flavors.

M4M concerts are presented with the support of Local 4 Music Fund, the Music Performance Trust Fund, the Arts Collinwood Friends’ Committee, Cuyahoga Arts and Culture, and Ohio Arts Council.
