​Writers of all levels and backgrounds welcome. Learn the fundamentals of writing personal essays, including turning memories into stories, establishing yourself as a character, using tools like scene and dialogue, conducting research and interviews, and revising for publication. Led by writer and Lit Cleveland co-founder Lee Chilcote. Workshops to offer exercises and feedback on participants' work.

Please note: Registration is requested, and this workshop takes place the third Saturday of every month from 4/15-9/16. Participants are asked to attend the majority of the six sessions.

Lee Chilcote lives in a 1900 Victorian in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife, Katherine, and their three children. He has worked as a community organizer, real estate developer, writer and teacher. He holds degrees from Oxford University and Cleveland State University. His writing has appeared in Vanity Fair, Next City, and numerous literary journals and his chapbook of poems, The Shape of Home, will be published in March by Finishing Line Press. He is cofounder and director of Literary Cleveland.

This workshop is FREE and takes place Third Saturdays, 4/15-9/16 from 10:30a-12:30p at Cleveland Public Library Carnegie West Branch, 1900 Fulton Rd., Cle. OH.
