Having been a mainstay of the Northeast "jam circuit" for years, Jimkata's refined "electro rock" sound - one of a band that has found it's voice after years of experimentation - is in many ways more "indie rock" than jam, more 90's dance than EDM, more lyrical than instrumental, yet the band manages to keep the jam, EDM and technically advanced instrumental elements intact as it carves out a new path for themselves and many of their peers who were inspired by Die Digital. Jimkata's relevant, quotable lyrics create moods not just for the fleeting moments, but for the lifestyle of an entire generation, and the sum of the music and songwriting appeals to fans of artists like MGMT, LCD Soundsystem, Talking Heads and the best of the '90'spop-rock world. A staple of the festival circuit from the Rockies to the Atlantic, Jimkata's 2013 festival schedule included heavy hitters like Summer Camp (Chillicothe, IL), Gathering of The Vibes (Bridgeport, CT), Catskill Chill (Hancock, NY), Rootwire (Logan, OH) among many others. ≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈≈ Marcus Alan Ward: http://marcusalanward.bandcamp.com/ Product of a cultural upbringing, self taught multi-instrumentalist and Cleveland, Ohio native Marcus Alan Ward spent his middle and high school days in and out of bands, later discovering and being exposed to jazz, soul, hip hop, electronic music, and more obscure sounds in college. Ward began crafting music as a solo artist in May of 2011 and debuted his project with single "Tidal Wave" in September 2011. Simultaneously giving himself and the world a birthday present, his debut EP WLDFLWR_HNY was released on his birthday in January 2012, garnering early buzz locally, nationally, and internationally. The artist solidified his sound and building buzz with the release of ambient rnb/post hip-hop hybrid the "Eskimo EP" in April of 2013. With the release of his acclaimed debut album “Last Night I Grew Tentacles”, debuted by The Fader Magazine in August of 2014, Ward creates a universe covering themes of deep space travel, quantum physics, love, and more. He remains influenced by a large range of prog rock, electronic, soul, hip-hop, and avant-garde music. Ward continues to pursue honest artistic expression and spread his dubbed prisma-chromatic, futuristic soul sound.
