The event creator says
In the passion of the civil rights campaigns of 1964 and 1965, Jonathan Kozol gave up the prospect of a promising and secure career within the academic world, moved from Harvard Square into a poor African American neighborhood of Boston, and became a fourth grade teacher. He has since devoted nearly half a century to the increasingly urgent issues facing public education, and to the challenge of providing equal opportunity within our schools to every child regardless of race or economic circumstance. Today, he is a moral voice for equity in education -- having authored over 20 books, he is the most widely read and respected education writer in America.

Dr. Kozol will be the keynote speaker for the Open Doors Academy "Some Day Is Now" annual luncheon September 29, with a Q & A period moderated by Cleveland City Club CEO Dan Moulthrop immediately afterwards.
