For concert three in our Close Encounters chamber music series, a historic Herrick Mews carriage house is the setting of “The Sung Path…a Tandem Journey of Music and Words.”

Principal english horn Robert Walters and an ensemble of six Cleveland Orchestra members takes listeners through the musical garden of the program, featuring “Soliloquy” by Jennifer Higdon and “Morning Star” by Edward Niedermaier. The world-premiere of “Voyage,” by associate principal oboist Jeffery Rathbun, is also featured.

In addition to Robert Walters’ role in The Cleveland Orchestra, he is also an accomplished writer. Having earned an MFA in fiction and poetry at Columbia University in addition to his musical studies at the Curtis Institute, here is an artist who enjoys the music of words and sounds alike. His poetry accompanies the musical program.

Wheelchair accessible; directions to this house concert will be provided two weeks in advance.
