Cleveland Museum of Natural History says
Celebrate the northern hemisphere’s shortest day at #ThinkandDrink—Winter Solstice! Chill out with subzero science and watch fun dry ice demonstrations. Make the evening glow with a DIY luminary activity. Test your egg-balancing skills and learn the truth about a commonly believed myth. Check out a working model of our Solar System—called an orrery—to see orbits in action. Discover what constitutes "true" hibernation and take a look at Ohio's winter wildlife. Weather permitting, head up to Ralph Mueller Observatory starting at 8:30pm to look at the Moon and stars.

Planetarium Shows
Explore the Universe with a Museum astronomer! Shafran Planetarium tickets are $5 each.

Stop the Sun! - 7pm
There’s a good reason why people long ago celebrated the winter solstice: It marks the day that the noon Sun stops dropping in altitude and resumes its slow daily climb upward in the sky. Solstice literally means “Sun stop”! But, don’t expect winter relief soon.

Planet Vistas - 8pm
Since the dawn of the Space Age 60 years ago, humans have dispatched hundreds of spacecraft to probe deep regions of our Solar System. Let's explore the exotic planetary landscapes and moons these pioneering robots have revealed.
