Belgium's famous 'Mannekin Pis statue' - a bronze mannequin of a boy urinating into a fountain - has been dressed up in traditional Slavonian folk garb to celebrate 25 years of the country's independence. Perhaps the strangest birthday present gifted to Croatia during its celebration, the initiative came from Croatian MEP Dubravka Suica.

'I believe Croatia’s national costume suits Manneken Pis very well, today he is a little less ‘Bruxellois’ and a little more Croat, but in any case he is European', said Marc Guebel, deputy chairman of the Friends of Manneken Pis Committee.
