City of Zagreb Day

Birthday parties, for many, mean embarrassingly low turn outs, sad-looking balloons and questionable, last minute gifts. Not in Zagreb: on May 31, the whole city erupts into celebration of patron saint Our Lady of Kamenita Vrata . Its centre piece is the ceremonial procession that parades down the cobbled streets between the cathedral and the Stone Gate, but there’s plenty going on elsewhere – concerts, city tours, exhibitions. Most of them are completely free, and everyone is invited.
