Long before Croatia's beaches, hotels and apartments began filling with tourists, the country was a favoured destination for those arriving by boat. Budget airlines have now made Croatia accessible to visitors from all over Europe and, serviced by major transportation hubs, people from all over the world can now also fly here easily. But for a country blessed with hundreds of islands, hidden coves, crystal-clear waters and spectacular sunsets, the best way to experience Croatia is by riding its waves aboard a boat.

Online boat rental and charter yacht platform Zizoo announced Croatia as their number one destination for 2019. Around 50 percent of the company's 2018 bookings were for Croatia and current indicators predict operations in the country will be even more successful in 2020. Why is this such a big deal for Croatian sailing? Well, Zizoo are a global company working with over 1500 charter companies, offering a staggering 21,000 boats across destinations in over 30 countries. And yet of all the options available, Croatia has by far been standout favourite for the last three years. But why should this be the case? The answer is simply one of versatility.

Croatia itself offers so many options that it's a failsafe choice for visitors of all stripes, whether business colleagues on a break, holidaying families or groups of adventure-loving friends. No single day need be the same on a boating holiday in Croatia as sailing grants the freedom to explore every kind of option in this beautifully varied country.

Imagine eating breakfast while moored in a beautiful secluded bay before your own private beach, hair still wet from a morning swim in unbelievably clear waters. After breakfast, picture sailing to one of Croatia's eight national parks. Lunch could take place at one of the most highly rated seafood restaurants on the Adriatic, or if freshly caught tuna, seabass and squid isn't your thing, sample any number of local specialities which take inspiration from Turkish, Hungarian, Greek or Italian cuisine.

With over 60 marinas and boat harbours to choose from, you can tailor your evenings to suit, whether it be a romantic seafront restaurant or the thrills of an award-winning international music festival.

Zizoo's bespoke boat holidays offer a wide range of choice and professional services, whether that be a relaxed luxury holiday with a manned crew, an active adventure for experienced sailors or your very first sailing experience. By offering options for every budget, Zizoo are helping to bring Croatian sailing holidays into the mainstream, making Croatia accessible by boat in the same way budget airlines have with the mainland's beaches.
