What is it?
The city’s first dedicated single malt distillery in over one hundred years, located on the very same dockside from which Scotland’s whisky used to be shipped around the globe.
Why visit?
There are plenty of great whisky bars in Glasgow (if you only have time for one, make it The Pot Still on Hope Street), but if you want to learn more about Scotland’s national drink, there’s nothing like a distillery tour. The whiskies made here are Lowland style, meaning they are on the lighter, mellower side of things and are ideal for whisky drinking newbies. After your tour, you can enjoy a couple more drams in the Whisky Bar or pick up a personalised bottle in the distillery shop.
What does it cost?
Tours start at £19.50 per person for a one hour tour and go all the way up to £175 per person for a two hour tour hosted by the distillery manager.
What’s nearby?
Music and events venue SWG3 is a short walk from the distillery, where you’ll find acts of all different sizes playing across the different spaces. In May, it also hosts Yardworks, one of Europe’s biggest graffiti and street art festivals.
