Doughnut retailer Krispy Kreme has confirmed the opening date for its latest Scottish store in Glasgow next month – and there'll be free doughnut giveaways in the run-up to the launch.

The new Braehead store will open its doors on December 2 on the site of the former Scottish Maritime Museum. The site, which will also have a drive-thru, will feature a production line so you can see the doughnuts being made. More than 100,000 doughnuts will be created each week.

In the weeks leading up to the opening, teams from Krispy Kreme will be giving out thousands of doughnuts to passers-by in Braehead, Glasgow and the surrounding areas, so keep your eyes peeled for freebies ahead of the official launch.

If it's anything like previous Krispy Kreme launches, expect big crowds. In February 2013, the launch of Krispy Kreme's Edinburgh store had the largest queue of any of the chain's UK stores with more than 400 people waiting for the doors to open - including one person who had been there since 10am on the previous day. Now that's dedication to doughnuts - let's hope they got some decent freebies!

Krispy Kreme, Braehead, opens December 2.
