Mumford and Sons, Ben Howard and Primal Scream are among the first acts to be announced for the Aviemore Stopover festival, a predominantly American touring festival hosted by the Mumfords' own Gentlemen of the Road promotions. The festival will take place near Aviemore at Rothiemurchus in the Cairngorms National Park on Friday July 31 & Saturday August 1, and will also feature performances from The Maccabees, Simian Mobile Disco, Lianne La Havas, King Charles, Honeyblood, Jack Garratt and The Very Best, with more names still to be announced. Mumford and Sons will headline the Friday, while Ben Howard tops the Saturday bill.

Out of curiosity, we also had a look at the other Stopover line-ups in New Jersey, Iowa, Washington and Colorado, just to see if we could predict who else might be announced for the Aviemore gig based on recurring names. As expected, there were a bunch of guests who appeared on several line-ups (Mumfords, obviously, but also the Maccabees and The Very Best), so there's a sliver of hope that The Flaming Lips, The Vaccines, Jenny Lewis and Dawes may also be announced for Aviemore in the near future, though we'd hasten to clarify that (a) this is sheer speculation and (b) it's obviously a lot easier for festivals to share line-ups when they exist on the same continent.

Tickets for the fest are due to go on-sale on the Gentlemen of the Road website from 10am on Friday March 6, with weekend tickets starting at £109 and £129 with camping (apparently, there won't be an option to buy a single-day ticket).
