Sleater-Kinney guitarist, ‘Portlandia’ star and writer Carrie Brownstein is to take part in an evening of conversation in Glasgow next month to celebrate the publication of her memoir. ‘Hunger Makes Me a Modern Girl’ chronicles Carrie’s time in the music industry, along with her thoughts on punk, riot grrl and feminism.

Described by publisher Riverhead Books as a ‘candid, funny, and deeply personal look at making a life - and finding yourself - in music’, it also covers areas such as her turbulent upbringing and her sexuality, identity and relationships, and is released on October 27. The musician has said the memoir ends about the time Sleater-Kinney went on hiatus – and doesn’t mention her time on ‘Portlandia’.

The event, presented by TYCI in partnership with Glasgow Women’s Library, will be hosted by broadcaster and journalist Nicola Meighan and take part in the library’s recently renovated reading room.

Ticket details are to be announced shortly, and although there won’t be a signing session on the evening itself, Carrie will be pre-signing books before the event.
