A returning hero, a marathon set from a drum’n’bass legend and a birthday blowout by a leading techno club night – what’s not to love about this week in Glasgow clubland? Spring might even just could possibly maybe be round the corner as well – the first big weekenders of the year are fast approaching in the form of the Red Bull Music Academy Glasgow at various venues around the city (March 26-29), and Electric Frog and Pressure’s Easter Weekender at SWG3 (April 3-5). Got your tickets yet?

Andy C Sub Club, Thu Mar 19
Drum’n’bass kingpin Andy ‘C’ Clarke (pictured above) hits Glasgow at the close of his UK-wide ‘All Night Long’ tour (any similarities with Lionel Richie’s tour of the same name are purely coincidental). One of the absolute pioneers of the genre, famed for his fast-mixing on three turntables, Clarke is routinely voted as one of the greatest DJs in the world. As co-founder of RAM Records, he has helped build drum’n’bass into the force it is today, with releases by the likes of Chase & Status, Sub Focus, Culture Shock, DC Breaks and countless more.

Rustie – The Arches, Fri Mar 20
Okay so this one technically falls within gigging hours, but it’s a night for clubbers to all intents and purposes. Russell ‘Rustie’ Whyte is a Warp-signed, globe-straddling electronica don nowadays, but it wasn’t so long ago that Glasgow’s Numbers and LuckyMe counted him as one of their own. Not forgetting his roots, he brings his Green Language world tour to the Arches complete with pounding, throbbing bass and 3D visuals from A-Rock. Support comes from a rising star of the local scene Nightwave.

CODE 5th Birthday with Mark Broom – La Cheetah,  Sat Mar 21
Celebrating five years of quality techno events in Glasgow, CODE welcome Mark Broom to the La Cheetah basement to guest at their half-decade birthday celebration. A techno veteran of over 20 years experience, Broom has released on labels from Saved to Material, Gynoid, Soma and his own Beard Man imprint, and collaborated with James Ruskin under the moniker The Fear Ratio. Support comes from Code resident Nick Morrow.
