One of Glasgow’s newest second-hand clothes shops, this is also one of its most unique. Created and operated in close cooperation with next-door neighbour café-bar Glad Café, it’s a place to buy recycled and upcycled clothes. All profits are used to support the Glad Foundation, a charity providing music lessons to local people, and the programme of the Glad Café, itself a non-profit organisation.
Stock covers clothing, shoes and accessories – both men’s and women’s – as well as vinyl records and bric-a-brac. Being entirely dependent on donations, the amount of quality of stock tends to vary. But Glad Rags is great at displaying and marketing its stuff in stylish ways – check out their Twitter and Instagram feeds and you’ll see what we mean. Even the shop interior itself is an act of clever recycling and upcycling, using the old leftover remnants of a coffee shop to create new flooring and shelving.
