Pride Eats: The Best Rainbow-Colored Goods for Pride Week

It's June, which means it's the most colorful time of year, Gay Pride Week, and Tel Aviv is celebrating in full force. Many of our favorite restaurants, bars, and dessert shops are selling special rainbow-inspired dishes, cocktails, and treats to mark the occasion. You’ll also be seeing Absolut Rainbow bottles at liquor stores throughout the country. Absolut is, in fact, the first spirits bottle ever to wear the rainbow flag, which was made in collaboration with Gilbert Baker, the designer behind the original flag. So load up on the neutral spirit and read on for all the best spots to dive into rainbow-fied eats.

Your diet can start tomorrow because the rainbow donuts at The Showroom Bakehouse are worth every last calorie. Their limited edition uber sweet creations will be stocked from June 9th through the 14th. Note the donuts are sold individually so you can custom-make your own box.

Café XOHO is a one of Tel Aviv’s most beloved gay-friendly, colorfully vibrant restaurants so it’s no surprise that they have a lot in store for Pride. As in years past you can expect fun menu additions like colorful bagels and fun icing on cupcakes, which will be sold on June 14. Don’t forget to load up on their brownies and chocolate chip cookies whilst there.

Everyone’s favorite vegan spot will be serving a special desert in honor of Pride. The sweet treat will be a layered bar consisting of a crust made from oatmeal and almond flour, an almond cream, and caramelized bananas. The layers will be rainbow colored and it will be served the day of the parade, June 14.

One of the newest additions to the Tel Aviv scene, Emesh, may be best known as a bar, but they actually have quite an impressive food menu so don’t hold back on grub to soak up all the rainbow hued cocktails they’re serving all of pride Pride Week.

Rainbow sushi? Yes! And because it’s TYO you know it’s going to taste as amazing as it looks. From June 9th through the 15th TYO has a special offering designed to reflect the colors of the rainbow, including spicy tuna, avocado, and salmon.

Nola tends to go all out on all of the year’s fun holidays – think Valentine’s Day, Halloween, etc. – so you can expect them to have a long list of colorful treats on June 14. Among the items they’ve been known to bring out for Pride are rainbow rice crispy treats, rainbow frosting strawberry Pop-Tarts, rainbow frosting Nutella Pop-Tarts, as well as rainbow sprinkle and rainbow frosting cookies and cupcakes.

Load your cone with a rainbow of flavors for the ultimate prideful ice cream cone. Actual ice cream aside, Anita has been showing their support to the LGBT community all month with special rainbow-colored cone wrappers – perfect to brighten up just about every Instagram shot, whether you load up on multi-colored ice cream or nothing but plain old chocolate.

Pre or post parade head to the Carlton pool or lobby bar for a special rainbow cocktail the day of the Pride Parade. Called the Jungle Bird, it was specially crafted by the expert mixologists from Dizengoff hot spot Jasper. It’s made with dark rum, Campari, pineapple juice, and lemon.
