Arter was opened in 2010 with a goal to provide a sustainable infrastructure for production and exhibition in the field of contemporary art. A project of the Vehbi Koç Foundation, Arter hosts both individual and group exhibits. Thanks to the opportunities it provides artists in the scope of its showings, Arter is able to support artistic production in Turkey. The building in which Arter is hosted was built in 1910 by architect Petraki Meymaridis Efendi. Work to transform the building into a gallery space began in 2006 and was completed in 2009. Spread out over four floors, Arter possesses a space of 864 m2.
