Situated on the Golden Horn, this museum does not have a permanent exhibition, but most of its temporary shows focus on the Byzantine, Ottoman and Republic periods of Turkish history. Visitors can also explore a cistern called ‘The Dark Fountain’, one of the few constructions along the Golden Horn that date back to the Byzantine era, as well as the ruins of a hamam (Turkish bath) from Ottoman times.
