The Event of a Thread: Global Narratives in Textiles

The new exhibition at Istanbul Modern focuses on the use of textiles as an artistic medium and explores the historical, social and cultural connotations of fabrics. The works on display draw inspiration from a variety of cultures including quipu weaving used by ancient Andean cultures in South America and the long-forgotten tradition of yazma embroidery, which was revived and adopted by Turkish painter and poet Bedri Rahmi Eyüboğlu.
