American Gregory Porter is a Grammy-nominated artist whose music reveals generations of blues, gospel and soul in his DNA (you might be reminded of a young Nat King Cole or the great Joe Williams). Already a veteran of Broadway and off-Broadway shows, Porter actually identifies closely with Cole because the singer’s recordings were a source of great solace to him in the many dark years that his father was absent from his life. Porter is in Istanbul to perform with saxophonist Yosuke Sato, pianist Chip Crawford, double bassist Aaron James and drummer Emanuel Harrold.
