All three of these acts signed with Fat Cat Records are visiting Istanbul as part of their Transcendentalists tour. They’re most notable for blending post-classic, electronica and ambient music. Performing back-to-back at Salon are German pianist-composer Volker Bertelmann, aka Hauschka, who visited Borusan Music House earlier this year with his ‘prepared piano’ project; American pianist-composer Dustin O’Halloran, whose works include soundtracks for films such as ‘Marie Antoinette’ (2006) and ‘An American Affair’ (2009) and who performed at Salon last month in the A Winged Victory for the Sullen concert; and Icelandic composer-producer Jóhann Jóhannsson, who’s among a select group of musicians who seamlessly blend modern classical music with electronic music, and has contributed to a number of film soundtracks. This second most exciting concert series of the season at Salon (after last month’s Erased Tapes concert) takes place two nights in a row.
