John McLaughlin, who started his career in London in the early 1960s, came to New York in the early 1970s and joined the group of Miles Davis, playing guitar in In a Silent Way and Bitches Brew, two albums that became groundbreaking Fusion Jazz classics. Immediatly after that period, he created the Mahavishnu Orchestra, guiding new generations for decades with the pool of inspiration it created by blending Electric Jazz and Rock Music with Eastern traditions. Achieving fame with the Mahavishnu Orchestra, John McLaughlin is regarded as one of the best guitarists ever with his rich career.
Heavily inspired by Indian music, his sophisticated that also blends Jazz with Flamenco, and Blues shape guitar music for 50 years. John McLaughlin is the creator of wild solos with fuzzy tones, and bold, unpredictable, intricate melodies. Winner of last year’s Grammy Award for Best Improvisation Jazz Solo, McLaughlin has collaborated with Al Di Meola, Paco de Lucia, Carlos Santana, and the Indian tabla master Zakir Hussein.
