Time Out says

Vocalist, songwriter and musician Melody Gardot returns to Istanbul as part of the 20th Istanbul Jazz Festival, after previously giving a concert in 2009 at the Esma Sultan Mansion. Her sound incorporates influences ranging from jazz and blues to country and folk, and she has gained a huge following with hit songs such as “Baby I’m a Fool,” “Your Heart is as Black as Night” and “If the Stars Were Mine.”

Born in 1985, Gardot suffered serious injuries in an accident at the age of 18 and has credited her highly musical life with helping her heal. In a previous interview with Time Out Istanbul, Gardot said, “I’ve been a student of music, but now I’m primarily a student of life. I found solace in melodies, chords and also in the quiet moments without music.”
