One of the best-known managers in the Etiler nightlife scene, Candan Topdemir opened her new restaurant Cano on Kemankeş Caddesi by the Karaköy shore. The eatery embraces everyone who walks through its doors, with a fine-dining section that’s ideal for business lunches and a more casual area fit for informal gatherings. The décor is a direct reflection of Topdemir’s aim to infuse the restaurant with a homelike feel. When you factor in the bar section, Cano boasts the one of the largest indoor spaces in Karaköy, while its outdoor area is by far the biggest in Istanbul. Don’t let the cold weather dismay you: Cano’s outdoor heating system comes to the rescue of those who’d rather not be cramped indoors.
The elegantly presented dishes are ideal for cozy group dinners, like the cheese platter featuring flavorful cheeses that could easily rival those sold in exclusive delis. The tenderloin iskenderwith special sauce, or rıhtım iskenderas it reads on the menu, is simply incredible: with hefty slices of tenderloin, it proves almost too big to finish, but that didn’t stop us from scarfing down every last bite of pide drenched in sauce.
