Icebar By Icehotel, located in Maslak’s Windowist Tower, is run by a crew that have all been a part of the Icebar chain for 20 years. The ice used in Icebar was also brought to Istanbul from elsewhere, namely the Torne River in Sweden’s Jukkasjarvi region, 120 miles north of the Arctic Circle. The temperature inside is -5 degrees – ideal for both the ice and people – and you can stay inside for a maximum of 45 minutes after you don the specially designed cloak and gloves. Of course, if you don’t want to wait at the door, we highly recommend making reservations online. As for the food, Chef Detlev Schmidkunz, who’s worked in Michelin-starred restaurants for long years, oversees the menu of reinterpreted Turkish and world fare. You’ll also find several Istanbul-specific cocktails on the menu like Icerakı. Let’s not forget – all the drinks are served in glasses made out of ice.
